We've loved everything about finnriver for as long as we've known about the farm. The 15 year old company makes organic ciders and grows apples in the hamlet of Chimacum, one hour north of us on the Olympic Peninsula. Their cider is darn tasty, but what gets us really excited is the creative, joyful spirit they bring to their mission of connecting people to the land, and to each other.
The Finnriver Cider Garden, located across from the Chimacum corner store, feels like a mashup of working farm, Spanish sideria, and playground. Tractors and farm equipment rumble past families playing bocce ball or eating ice cream. Guests listen to live music in the pavilion or roam the orchards, cider in hand.
Our oyster popup at Finnriver started back in 2015 as a Sunday afternoon affair. When the Cider Garden opened a few years later we followed close behind, setting up shop under an old grain silo. In 2018 we turned the popup into a year-round venture, serving raw oysters, steamed clams, crab cakes and more on Saturdays, Sundays, and the occasional Friday.
Finnriver has an eclectic schedule of live music and events that includes late night dance parties and afternoon philosophical lectures. Besides our oysters and clams, food options include vegan ice cream, crepes, bratwurst, and wood fired pizza from Dented Buoy. Check their website for current food vendor lineup and event schedule.
