Description

We’ve got a small batch of Hamamoto® Oysters on hand, and we’re offering them in a special sampler box available for delivery Thursday, March 5 only.

Quantities are limited — Hamamotos are slow-growing and relatively rare. If this release sells out, our regular Farm Sampler is available year-round.

Each box includes four dozen oysters representing distinct growing regions across Puget Sound:

  • 1 dozen Hamamoto – a Kumamoto from North Puget Sound
  • 1 dozen Summerstones – a Pacific from North Puget Sound
  • 1 dozen Hama Hama – a Pacific from mid Hood Canal
  • 1 dozen Wildcat – a Pacific from South Puget Sound

This is a chance to compare growing regions, oyster species, and flavor profiles side by side.

Oyster Size

Pacific oysters have a 2.75–3" shell length — ideal for enjoying raw, though large enough for grilling or roasting.

The Kumamoto oysters have a 1" to 1.5" shell length.

What's Included?

  • 48 farm fresh oysters
  • Shucking instructions
  • Oyster identification tags

⚠️ Proposition 65 Warning

Here's more information about cadmium.

This sampler gives you the opportunity to compare and contrast two different species (Kumamoto & Pacific) and explore how growing method and location shape flavor.

If you're new to oysters: Kumamotos (often called "kumos") are prized for their reliably mild, sweet flavor and naturally small, deep-cupped shells. They grow slowly, stay petite, and are relatively rare.

Pacific oysters, by contrast, show remarkable variation depending on how and where they're grown. In this box, you'll taste those differences side by side.

Read more about oyster species here.

Delivery dates and quantities are limited. Shucking knife highly recommended.

Please read our order guidelines for more info.

Consuming raw or undercooked shellfish increases the risk of foodborne illness.

  • For less stress, pick a delivery date 2–3 days before you plan to eat the shellfish.
  • Order cutoff: 6 AM Pacific for same-day shipping.
  • FedEx delivery window: usually 4:30–8:00 PM, depending on location.
  • Specialty items (i.e. seasonal boxes) usually have fixed delivery dates.
  • Non-perishables ordered by themselves ship via USPS and may take up to a week. (If you order a t-shirt with your oysters, it'll arrive with the shellfish).

Our business is 103 years old (and counting) so we're definitely in this for the long haul — building loyalty means making things right when something goes wrong.

Our Happiness Guarantee covers:

  • Damaged items during transit (please send photos!)
  • Lost product from deliveries delayed more than 2 days from selected delivery date.
  • Missing or mis-picked items
  • Quality concerns (too big, too small, or not what you expected)

If Your Perishable Order Is Delayed

  • We’ll contact you if there’s a delay, and will work with FedEx to reschedule delivery for the next day.
  • Don’t worry — your shellfish will just think the tide has gone out, and will be fine with an extra day or two in transit.
  • When your box arrives, check the temperature tracking tab inside; it’ll confirm that everything stayed cold.
  • Learn how to read your temperature tag here.
