2026 Job Posting: Seasonal Farm Store Staff

Come work near the beach! Hama Hama is looking for reliable and hardworking folks to join our Farm Store team in Lilliwaup, WA, on the beautiful Hood Canal. 

Family owned and operated for six generations, we’re a shellfish and timber farm located on the eastern slopes of the Olympic Peninsula. Our reputation for quality is built on hard work and clean water and our mission is pretty simple: use low impact farming methods to grow world-class oysters and trees, have fun, and leave something good for those who will come after us.

Farm Store staff ensure that we maintain a clean, well-stocked store staffed by well-informed, friendly sales people. Ideal candidates for the Farm Store Seasonal position will have excellent customer service and organizational skills, work well with a team, be available to work on summer weekends, and demonstrate the ability to work efficiently, neatly and with a positive attitude alongside diverse team members in a fast-paced environment. Work is primarily performed on your feet and involves frequent movement.

The Farm Store Seasonal hire will work 8-16 hours per week (weekend days required), with the potential to pick up additional shifts during busy weeks. Applicant must be available to work the weekends of Memorial Day, Fourth of July, first weekend in August, and Labor Day. This is an entry-level, seasonal position with a target start date of May 15 and end date of September 13 (there is flexibility for the right candidate).

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Sales

  • Make sales, restock, and clean in the retail store. 
  • Answer customer inquiries & complaints in the Retail  Farm Store Manager’s absence. Relay any customer complaints to Retail Farm Store Manager and Farm Store Lead as needed. 
  • Ensure goods on display are properly labeled and attractively displayed.
  • Work with permanent Farm Store staff to meet expectations and goals, as communicated by Farm Store Lead and Retail Manager 

 Retail Inventory

  • Restock items promptly in an organized manner.
  • Receive orders from wholesale crew and vendors, checking received inventory against ordered products.
  • Rotate shellstock, shucked oysters and other seafood through the retail store, pulling for Saloon and Production Kitchen as needed. 

Sanitation

  • Laundry and general facility upkeep
  • Maintain tidy and sanitary work environment in line with BAM policies
  • Cleaning and dishwashing
  • Ensure that refrigerators, freezers, deli cases and other foodservice equipment meet food safety guidelines. Relay any equipment issues to Retail Farm Store Manager and Farm Store Lead.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure  that the workplace (including Farm Store, kitchen, storage areas, cold room and outdoor areas) is safe for staff and customers. Communicate any safety concerns to supervisor as needed.
  • Ensure no underage or intoxicated persons are served/sold alcohol.
  • Be familiar and compliant with Washington State and Federal Law regarding: food safety, shellfish sales, sales tax collection, liquor sales. 

Requirements:

Certification and Training Requirements: Anyone working in food production, service or sales must have a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Card and Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) Certificate, class-12 or 13. In addition, we would like BAM staff to be familiar with molluscan shellstock HACCP training. We will provide an opportunity to 

Skill requirements: Good written and verbal communication. Responsible cash handling and basic arithmetic. Ability to work as a team or independently. Positive attitude and eagerness to take direction and help fellow team members.

Ability to satisfy the physical requirements of the job, which include (but are not limited to): 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.) Movement includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Work environment includes exposure to heat and cold of indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to allergens including wheat, shellfish, and kitchen cleaning chemicals. Work may include risk associated with forklift, motor vehicles and water craft; sharp knives and commercial kitchen equipment such as meat slicers (cut risk) and deep fryers (burn risk); risk associated with lifting; slip or fall risk associated with standing and walking on wet and uneven surfaces, ladders, and ledges.

Total Rewards: This is a seasonal / part-time position with an on-site work schedule. Expected hours of work are Saturday and Sunday, 8-16  hours per week. Compensation starts at $17.25 per hour + tip share.  In the past, summertime tips average $7-$10/hr
