Come work near the beach! Hama Hama is looking for reliable and hardworking folks to join our Oyster Saloon team in Lilliwaup, WA, on the beautiful Hood Canal.
Family owned and operated for six generations, we’re a shellfish and timber farm located on the eastern slopes of the Olympic Peninsula. Our reputation for quality is built on hard work and clean water and our mission is pretty simple: use low impact farming methods to grow world-class oysters and trees, have fun, and leave something good for those who will come after us.
The Oyster Saloon is located a stone’s throw from our oyster farm, and showcases our oysters and clams alongside other seasonal PNW seafood. Our goal is to offer thoughtful preparations for world-class ingredients in a one-of-a-kind dining environment. It’s a busy and physical job, but one with no late nights (we usually close at 5 pm) and plenty of fresh air and happy people. Seasonal hires start in the spring and work through the fall - exact start / stop dates can be flexible within a 6 month timeframe. If you’re looking for year round work, we’ll know mid-summer whether we have full time positions available.

Cooks
- Steaming clams, cooking crab cakes, roasting oysters etc - experience preferred, but not required. We can train you!.

- AKA Quarterback of the Kitchen - It’s a fun job for someone who is calm under pressure, self assured & organized.

Shuckers
- Opening oysters on the raw bar, quick hands and an eye for detail matter here!
Some midweek shifts are available, although most of our work happens on the weekends (Thurs - Monday). The hourly commitment would be 16 - 40 hours per week.
Requirements include:
- Reliable attendance and willingness to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to work on your feet in an outdoor environment, around common kitchen chemicals and allergens such as wheat and shellfish. Ability to perform tasks that involve bending/stooping, lifting and handling up to 40 - 50 lb without difficulty.
- Communicate positively with customers and team members
- WA state Food Handler’s certification (can be gotten after we hire you)
- Individuals must adhere to all safety standards, including proper care and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Physical demands / work environment: Light to moderate work (exerting up to 40 or 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.) Movement includes climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Work environment includes exposure to heat and cold of indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to allergens including wheat, shellfish, and kitchen cleaning chemicals. Work may include risk associated with forklift, motor vehicles and water craft; sharp knives and commercial kitchen equipment such as meat slicers (cut risk) and deep fryers (burn risk); risk associated with lifting; slip or fall risk associated with standing and walking on wet and uneven surfaces, ladders, and ledges.
The compensation range is $17 - $18 per hour, depending on experience and role, plus tips.
